REFERENCE BIBLE VERSES

Colossians 3:23-34 (NIV) | Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

OBJECTIVE

To move beyond our comfort zone into the pursuit of excellence as a habit, doing all things for Christ and not just for man alone.

CONTENT

DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD

  • Excellence is a habit of not only starting well, but finishing well. Excellence results from the mindset of worship, gratefulness, and thanksgiving to God.
  • Excellence is not to gain His love, because His love for us is not dependent on our performance. This is a form of our gratitude and working out our salvation.
  • Excellence means understanding that everything we have, we steward it from God, and therefore we have a responsibility to steward them well.
  • The goal of excellence is not for our own self benefit or self credit, it is for the glory of God.
  • The goal of excellence is such that in whatever we do, our fruit can be evident that Christ is at work within us.
  • Excellence needs to be trained and implemented in all areas of life, and at minimal within our circle of influence.
  • As Christians, it is not enough for us just to conform to the status quo of this world. We are called by Christ to be excellent in all the little things we do because as Christians we are ambassadors of Christ.
  • As ambassadors of Christ we understand the price of how Jesus has died for us, therefore we won’t waste away our lives, so we aim to be the reflection of Christ in whatever area we are in.

THE KEY TO EXCELLENCE IS TRUSTING THAT GOD WILL SUSTAIN

  • It means to plant and nurture the seeds (gifts) that God gave us, when He told us to grow a tree.
  • Part of being excellent is to be active, stepping boldly in faith and doing what God wants us to instead of following our comfort, inertia, or self-serving benefits.
  • The way to achieve excellence is looking up to Christ. We see the bigger picture and therefore work towards a bigger eternal purpose. Although we may not get the worldly rewards, we store up treasures in Heaven.
  • The reason why most ambitions fall short is because they are geared to please men and not God, therefore when we do not receive the appropriate validation, we stop what we are doing before it bears fruit.
  • When we are loyal to the smallest things, God will give us more trust and opportunities. We will be impactful towards the advancement in His kingdom because Christ and the Holy Spirit is in us.
